SUBJECT: Sharing SAGE Voices: Letter to School Board, Chance to Connect Oct 26

SAGE advocates for every GT student
Advocacy Update from SAGE

SAGE Friends,

Thank you! Your incredible participation and thoughtful feedback have allowed us to present a unified and unanimous position to the GCISD District Leadership and School Board this week.

We have officially submitted a summative document detailing the clear consensus against placing the ASPIRE program in any standalone facility. 100% of the feedback we received emphasized that keeping ASPIRE within larger campus communities is non-negotiable for student development, program integrity, and teacher retention.

Our ongoing conversations with district leadership have always emphasized meeting all needs of students, and how important we believe it is to uphold the original intentions for creating the ASPIRE Academy more than 10 years ago.

This week, we've sent a letter to the School Board Trustees and District Leadership asking that our survey findings and the direct comments of parents be directly shared with the EMP Committee.

We have also included language to clarify "stand-alone" so our position is clear and cannot be misinterpreted.

We encourage any parents who feel their voice has not been included yet in our messaging to share comments in the Member Community or send us an email at info@gc-sage.org

We ALSO encourage you to take your questions and comments directly to the School Board. The more voices they hear from, the more they will be able to feel the wide impact of these decisions. Need ideas for what to say? You can pull from our posts to support your points, or take the pdf of our letter and send it as a point of reference.

GT/ASPIRE Survey Key Insights

Here's the bottom line: Parents are worried about sustainability and equity of the gifted programs. The overall tone of responses reflects a high level of satisfaction and gratitude for the dedicated teaching staff, countered by concerns for the future and anxiety over the ongoing confusion and unknowns. Responses were collected during August and September.  Review the full findings here.

We have posted about the survey in the new Member-only Community site. Use the button below to join the conversation.

SAGE is celebrating 15 years of service and advocacy for GCISD. It's a good reminder that our combined voices can make an impact. Your membership is a key part of that, to include your voice in our efforts.

Please reach out to your fellow GT Lead and ASPIRE families and encourage them to renew or join SAGE.

The more we educate, communicate, and collaborate, the better positioned we are to support and advocate for our gifted learners in GCISD.

MEET UP AT HOP & STING OCT 26

We first created this event as a fundraiser to give us a chance to connect with our community. We now believe it's an even more important opportunity to discuss the current events in our district and we invite everyone to join us.

Because we believe this can be one our last opportunities to generate questions and possibly better recommendations to submit to the EMP Committee, we've invited School Board Trustees and district leadership to join us.
