Benjamin Alexander - Class of 2026 - University of Tulsa

SAGE has chosen Benjamin Alexander, Class of 2026 from Grapevine High School ASPIRE Academy, for one of the two GT Senior Scholarships.

SAGE Awards Scholarship to Benjamin Alexander

Benjamin will receive $1,000 from SAGE. He plans to attend University of Tulsa to study Cybersecurity.

Our judges loved learning about Benjamin's interests and plans after High School. Here are two excerpts from his short essay responses. We wish him the best of luck in Tulsa!

Using a pre-approved rubric, SAGE Lifetime members reviewed each applicant to identify students who exemplify the deep exploration and leadership qualities of a GT learner.

On his deep exploration of a complex topic:

"...In my senior year, I began working as a cybersecurity intern for the school district. Three days a week, I spend part of my day at the tech center, working with school technology and IT professionals. While there, I delve into specific programs and systems that could potentially allow for cheating, leaking of confidential information, loss of resources, and general non-educational distractions and activities. I’ve identified numerous vulnerabilities in the school district’s system and network, and I have created presentations and worked with the CTO and other staff to develop solutions to those vulnerabilities."

On leadership and community contribution:

"...Through Interact [Club], I’ve come to understand Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self, using leadership, integrity, and collaboration to create lasting change in local communities... I also learned that leadership isn’t just about having a title; it’s about stepping up when things are falling apart and taking responsibility for the group."

Congratulations, Benjamin! We wish you the best of luck in Tulsa!
